Scholarship for Masters from the Irish Government: Goals and Advantages

The scholarship will consist of the following elements and may be worth up to €28,000.00 in any given year:

a €19,000 yearly stipend; a fee contribution, which includes non-EU fees, up to €5,750 annually; and €3,250 in allowable direct research expenses.

Programme runtime:

• A master's in research is completed in 12 months.

Qualifications for the Government of Ireland Master's Scholarship

Any applicant may submit an application for a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, but they will fall into one of two categories based on their residency nation and nationality.

Candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

hold a bachelor's degree with honours in the first class, upper second class, or an equivalent category. If the applicant's undergraduate exam results are unknown at the time of application, the Council may make a provisional award of a scholarship, provided that the scholar's bachelor's degree or comparable degree outcome is a first class or upper second-class honours. If a scholar does not already possess a first class or upper second-class honours bachelor's degree or the equivalent, they must hold a master's degree. decision made by the Council about a candidate's eligibility

based on these criteria; must not have previously submitted two programme proposals that were turned down, including ones with strategic partner themes. This includes applications made since 2010 to the EMBARK Programme, previously run by the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering, and Technology, and the Government of Ireland Scholarship Programme, previously run by the Irish Council for Humanities and Social Sciences;

Applicants cannot possess or have ever held a Council Postgraduate Scholarship in order to be qualified for a research master's scholarship. Likewise, candidates cannot have or have ever held any Council Postgraduate Scholarships other than those that would allow them to pursue a research master's degree in order to be eligible for a doctoral degree scholarship.

Any applicant may submit an application for a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, but they will fall into one of two categories based on their residency nation and nationality.

Candidates must meet BOTH of the following conditions to be considered for category one:

belonging to one of the following countries: Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, or an EU member state

AND have ordinarily resided in one of the following nations for three out of the five years preceding October 1, 2023: Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, or a country that is a part of the European Union.

All other applications will be placed in the second group.

The majority of scholarships will go to applicants who fall into category 1, although exceptional applicants who fall into category 2 will also get some awards. Please be aware that the Council

might request formal proof of a candidate's citizenship and address.
